(Note: you must be 18 years or older and have been a resident in the district for at least 1 year).

The first step in joining the Department is to come down to 72 Larkin Place or call 732-222-4624 to pick up or request an application. Once you have the application and you have filled it out entirely, drop it off at the Fire Station.

The next step in the process is to come down to the Station once you have been notified to do so. You will then meet with the members of the Fire Department's Membership Committee and you will be introduced to the workings of the Department. We will discuss with you what is expected of you during your 1st year which is a probationary period, and what to expect after that and for years to come. After your successful completion of this interview you will then be asked to proceed to the Ocean Twp. Police Department to be fingerprinted.

Once we receive a favorable report of your background check you will then be given a voucher to go to the Immediate Medical Services at 240 Monmouth Rd, Oakhurst. Here you will get a complete physical at no charge to you. Once we get the results back and they are favorable you then will be brought in at our next monthly Fire Department meeting and will then become a Probationary Member of the Department.
